The era of generalized diagnosis and treatment of cancer is rapidly giving way to more personalized and targeted approaches, based on a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in driving the disease within a given set of patients. More targeted therapies are being employed using both small molecules and large biomolecular therapies, and in most cases these treatments also require companion diagnostics to determine which patients are appropriate for different selective therapeutics. The number of mechanisms that can be targeted continues to grow, and many of these approaches are at early stages of development. This timing puts a premium on the need for collaboration between early stage companies developing new approaches with more established companies that can help support the technical, regulatory and promotional development of these therapeutics and diagnostics. CHI’s Emerging Targeted Oncology Partnering Forum is designed to bring together early stage companies developing new therapeutic and diagnostic approaches for cancer with more established pharma, biotech and diagnostic companies seeking new capabilities for personalized approaches for cancer.
