MPTA was established in 1975 and has worked successfully to increase transit funding in order to expand and improve transit service. Our latest success was the passage of the Transportation Amendment, a constitutional amendment dedicating all of the proceeds from the sales tax on motor vehicles to highways and transit. MPTA worked in conjunction with other groups to convince voters to support passage of the amendment, providing the first constitutionally dedicated revenue source for transit in Minnesota.
