The Japan Environmental Management Association for Industry is popularly known as JEMAI. It is a public corporation with membership of 1,100 business units. This corporation was established on September 1962 when industrial pollution was posing a serious threat in and around Japan. Since 1963, JEMAI enhanced its activities ensuring an over-all control on global environmental issues related to waste management problem, chemical substances management etc. Gradually JEMAI started serving as the secretariat in Japan for ISO/TC 207 subcommittees. Presently, JEMAI is engaged in business for qualification and registration system of EMS auditors, environmental site assessment, and Eco-leaf of environmental labeling. President of this forum is Nobuya Minami. 16th Regional Conference of Clean Air and Environment is one of the most successful events organized by JEMAI. It is also involved in organizing seminars and industry related publications.
